A Christian's Apology!

Since I am starting this blog to talk about being a follower of Jesus and what that means and how to live that out today, I feel I need to start it off by saying...I AM SORRY!

As a Christian, I am embarrased and ashamed of the Christianity that has been portrayed by other Christians. To all those that have been hurt by other Christians, I am not here to defend them or even to defend Christianity. I will not do that. You see I will not defend the acts of a Christian who has said one thing and lived their life completely differently. I will not defend the Chrisitans who have used Jesus to push their own political agenda. I will not defend Christianity because Christianity has become a thousand things to a thousand different people.

And to those of you who have been hurt by Christians...I AM SORRY! To those of you who have been judged by Christians and treated with hatred...I AM SORRY! To those of you that have seen Christians on TV asking for your money...I AM SORRY! To those of you who have been felt lied to and cheated by Christians...I AM SORRY! To those of you that have seen Christians you trusted let you down...I AM SORRY! To any of you that have been hurt physically, emotionally or mentally by any Christian...I AM SORRY! I AM SORRY! I AM SORRY! I will not defend any of that, but what I do want to say to you is that Jesus is sorry too. Just like a river that started out from pure snow that has gotten dirty and polluted by others adding their junk and dirt to it as it flows along...Jesus' message has also been contaminated and polluted by Christians who had their own agenda. But if you search for the source...JESUS....you will find that HE is PURE.

He is not a get rich scheme or a republican or a guy on TV asking you for money to heal you. He is a loving and compassionate God wanting nothing more that to have a relationship with you. He wants to tell you how much you mean to Him and how much He loves you. He wants to tell you what He has done for you and how He laid down His life to be closer to you. I hope that those people who have contaminated and polluted Jesus' message have not hurt you so much that you are not willing to give the Pure source another try. It's interesting that Jesus, when He was on this earth was only harsh to one set of people....the religious leaders who thought they had it all together and condemned other people. I beleive if He were here today..He would do the same thing and ask you to seek the source where you will find pure, loving, compassionate, forgiving grace!
